2012 Unsung Hero Awards
February is Parent Recognition Month
Please join us as we honor parents and caregivers around the state.
The picture above is one of last year’s 28 Unsung Hero recipients. Why was she nominated? She has built the 5 Protective Factors into her daily life to help her be a stronger mother, wife and person. The 5 Protective Factors are:

Parental Resilience: I can overcome hard times and bounce back.

Social Connection: I have people who know and support me.

Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development: I know where to go to find out about parenting skills and my child’s developmental growth.

Concrete support in times of need: I know where to turn to for help.

Social and Emotional Competence of Children: I know how to help my children talk about their feelings.
Parenting can be one tough job. Please take a moment to nominate a parent that has made an effort by using some of these strategies to improve the lives of their own families as well as those around them.

February 2011 Unsung Hero Awards
Parents from Towns Across NH Honored - Governor Lynch in Attendance
On February 23 in the Governor and Council Chambers at the NH State House, with Governor John Lynch, the New Hampshire Children's Trust/Prevent Child Abuse New Hampshire honored 28 parents, one for each day of the month. This award honors and recognizes parents and caregivers for their positive role modeling and the great jobs they are doing every day.
Governor Lynch issued a proclamation declaring February as Parent Recognition month, acknowledging that more parents each year are developing vital partnerships with service providers, policymakers, and key stakeholders to shape policy and serve as responsible role models for parents across the state, creating safer communities for children.
